Fiberglass Parts

hey, think this is the correct place to put this.

How good are Fiberglass Bonnets/Boots? Are they worth forking out for to save some weight? What are the disadvantages? I'm looking to save weight but don't wanna waste 200+ quid on something thats not gunna do much.
    Thanks in advance

best place to start if you havent done so already is strip out as much of the interior impossible such as carpets, rear seats and sound proofing etc as it doesnt cost anything, infact you can make some £££ buy selling the interior parts on

Im not familar with Fibreglass but it is much lighter than the standard stuff.
I dont think its actually that strong though when compared to something like
    Carbon Fibre.

Carbon Fibre is lighter too but hence why it costs too much.

Toad had a Fibre Glass section put in place where his roof is, could drop him
    a PM on his thoughts?

    do as jim said above.

also fibreglass is ok to save weight but crap in the case of a crash.

i agree. i swapped my mk2 bonnet with a fibreglass 1 from ccf on ebay. It was 3 times lighter, and with the rear stripped out i noticed a difference. The fit is never the best though. wouldnt go for a tailgate, want some strength there imo

id rather have strength in the front rather the rear....

if your wanting lightweight and quality...then id say spend the dolla on carbon fibre.....otherwise....dont bother imo
