Driveshaft Sizes.. Urgent.

    Hi all.

As some of you know i picked up 2 Driveshafts yesterday, Brand new.

One of them is bloody wrong!

The Drivers side one seems to fit perfect and go on fine, All back together etc.

The Short one, passenger one, was all fitted, however when i put the gearbox oil in, It started leaking.

Turns out it wasn't into the diff right, which i didn't check before hand!

Basically, the Shaft that goes into the Diff, goes in all the way till its touching something inside the box, like a cross bearing thing, Basically the shaft is too long, it doesn't go quite far enough to seal it all up..
Basically, I need some measurements from you guys...

Its a 1998 VTR Engine, Silvertop 90BHP Model, as these are the Struts and gearbox I have in my car.

I need the measurements of the Shaft that goes into the Diff basically, I need the Length of the whole lot, including the Step up to the bigger bit that goes into the seal, and just the shaft up to this bit.

Mine is almost certainly too long, We compared them to the old Furio ones and they were of a different length, but As the old VTR ones went in exchange, I can't be 100% Certain that I have the correct driveshaft as its gone!

Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks very much
    David

p.s Hope the above all makes sense...

sounds like you have been given vts shafts as opposed to the vtr shafts mate, they are a pain in the arse tbh!! i bought some shafts off here for my mk1 vtr 99 and these came from a mk1 98 vtr they fit perfect both sides but the taper on the inside of the driveshaft was different so it led me to belive that the wheel bearings were wrong, after one set of wheel bearings were bought and fitted and the same problem occured then i looked back at the driveshafts only to find out that the outside taper ( where it fits into the bearing/ hub was a diff taper and this was giving me excess play so the shafts had to come back out and another two bought!!!!

    Absolute pain tbh
Getting pissed off, should be over there now, but i've come home as i just cannot be bothered anymore.

So much to do, but i can't do half of it till This is sorted, gearbox oil is back in and so on..
    Cheers

if am right then the vts shafts are the longest ones followed by the vtr then the 1.4 and 1.1 models are too shrt so wont fit at all mate

    Oh right...
Well i just had a discussion about it with a member from here over the phone..
Its almost like its got a Furio end on it tbh..

There's about 5mm - 10mm Difference in the length, it doesn't go into the diff far enough to make it seal as it hits something inside..
The splines go in all the way, but its too long to allow the diff to seal.

I'm sure the VTR / S have different lengths, Due to the size of the Diff in the 1.0,1.1, 1.4 etc being smaller...

    Cheers
