Piperx air filters

i know they dont increase performance in any way.. but my standard airbox is cracked so need to put this on for a few days..

do they damage your engine in anyway, by taking in hot air or anything? and i read its possible they can slow you down?

On a standard VTR you wont notice any loss/gain in performance.

They dont damage your engine at all, they just sound a lot louder than standard.

I have one on mine and its just for the noise factor!

    what about petrol consumption?

Is it an open foam one, or enclosed??

mines pretty noisey, but yer no noticably performance increase. If ur wanted to ur can put it closer to the front near the grille so the colder air gets to it and its away from the main heat of the engine, get a heat shield around it and u will be sorted but if u do that u might as well buy the enclosed and its just easier.

if you can afford it mate your going to be alot better off with an enclosed unit such as BMC, Raceland enclosed, Green enclosed, Piper-X viper.

all the cone filter will do is make a big noise when your foot is flat to the floor and suck up all the hot air in the engine bay up into the throttle body. which will, if anything, reduce your performance.

if you are dead set on getting one then you would be alot better moving it to the front of the engine bay where there is a greater air flow of colder air. but imo by the time your have done that and spend the cash on the pipes needed to do this then your might aswell have bought and enclosed filter.

ps. an enclosed filter basicly mean that the filter is not open to the air in the engine and therefore does not soak as much heat up from the engine
