    if your buying these plates you would be aswell carrying 30quid in your pocket for a fine. there is a masiv crackdown on these. not trying to put a dampner on things, just trying to make you all aware.

    if you buy them from dubmeisters ebay shop they are only £23 delivered for a pair.


    it may have been a good idea to contact them through ebay to get a discount on their ebay price rather than their website price. probably get them cheaper that way.

    I havent once been pulled, done about 3k miles in the last year or so - although half of that was done abroad to the nurburgring and back. And i live out in the middle of no where so the police and far and few between

    If your pre 2001 (the new style 51 plates) then they are more legal if you get my drift. If you dont drive like an idiot and attract attention to yourself 9/10 your'll be fine imo

    something can't be "more legal". they're illegal on any uk registered car for road use. even the uk font pressed plates are illegal because they don't have the british standards reflective backing.

    something can't be "more legal". they're illegal on any uk registered car for road use. even the uk font pressed plates are illegal because they don't have the british standards reflective backing.

    yeah that's right - pre 2001 cars don't need the postcode where the plate was made and the letters are 57mm wide not 50mm. they will still need to be compliant with british standards though.

    As said thats for 2001 onwards. What counts as refelctive backing? mine seem to be reflextive enough

    They can be "more" legal if they tick 9/10 box's instead of 7/10 box's for instance.

    EDIT: I e-mailed DVLA and they basically said they are fine pre 2001 so i just carry that around me, and my OE plates if the police have a problem

    Anychance you can send me a copy of that letter so i can keep it with me in my car or send me their address and i will write to them myself for confirmation.

    nice, i know guys that velcro their german plates on with the british ones underneath and have been avoiding problems that way- but you can only push your luck for so long. french/german ones are also illegal because of the typeface.

    Blah blah, dont attract attention to yourself and the chances are you wont get stopped. I know plenty of people round here that have them, have been stopped and they've never mentioned anything about the plates - but as i said earlier your best to carry OE ones with you anyway

    i know - all i'm saying is they're illegal and the reasons why i remember in similar HID threads people liked to dispute the regulations even then i pointed them to dvla pages.

    it's hypocritical of me in this case as i currently run french plates but i'm getting them removed after being stopped twice in the one week and in one instance breathalised, for the sole reason of having illegal plates.

    I would recommend that people go on the dubmiester website and check what their plate looks like cos I had issues with spacing of the letters but with the German FE font I dont need any spacing at all. Check before you order to save any confusion.

    Once again thanks Adam for your hard work.

    Just to slip this one in - Anyone got any ideas on the best quickshift kit to buy? Also, Im new to sax-p in terms of posting and Im gonna start a progress thread as Ive just bought a new car so comments will be appreciated once I get a camera sorted.

    mine looks normal aswel but its pressed Ge0_ge so is the velcro from tescos good then be bit worried someone could easily nick the plate.

    yer i was worried about that, but its a fair bit of hassle trying to get them off lol

    it isnt that easy to get them off... and who really tries to nick number plates, if they wanted them they would have taken them by now.

    and no there not legel in the UK, its a £30 if police catch you and decide to fine you but its a risk you take on your own, these plates are designed for show/cruise use only, but use them at your own risk on public roads.
