VTR mk1 wiring loom and mk2 loom

  1. #1
i apologize if this has been posted many times before:

I've got a mate who will be able to swap out my old VTR engine with a new one in his works garage over the weekend (free of charge ). but as some VTR mk1 engines have done a few miles. I was going to get a mk2, but the wiring is apparently different as the ECU for the mk1 is single clip and the mk2 is 3 clip.
and i was wondering what i would have to do to get a mk2 engine into a mk1 saxo wiring loom wise.
If their is anything else i would need to get a VTR mk2 working in my car then please post.

    and no VTS lump's please

Nothing at all. You should be able to swap the loom over directly.

You might need to swap a few of the sensors over too as they have a habit of changing the plugs between different age engines, but all your sensors will work fine on the newer engine.

that's what i wanted to hear so if i have the engine, loom and ecu i should be ok

Hey noticed your in Camborne.. where were you getting your engine from if you dont mind me asking? Wadebridge?

For Mk2 conversion, using an engine with 3 pin.. you will need everything, ecu, loom, and a completely different set of sensors.. (best to make sure than no one has robbed them from your new engine)..

For plug and play ease.. swap the engine with a mk1 VTR motor..

The engine is physically the same mk1 or mk2 (except the extra exhaust regulator which can be removed).

Surely it's possible to just swap the sensors from his old Mk1 engine. That's what i'd do anyway

East Lothian, its being couriered down. well thats if it comes with all the nessary parts otherwise i'll either have to get the parts seperatly, find another engine that does have all the parts or get a black top engine with low mileage

i'll probibly order the engine and get the parts together over the next couple of weeks.
ECU not too much of a problem but the loom may be a little more tricky to get hold of

    **made a topic**

The guy im getting it from is Andy from Hiflow heads, its a VTR engine that's done zero miles its a silvertop but hes positive that i can do a straight swap with my blacktop and just use my ECU and wiring loom. i wasn't too sure about this but the amount of Peugeot and Citroen work they do there, he must know what hes talking about.

I assume it's 0 miles because he's rebuilt it? Is it a std engine?

Might be worth a quick google around various forums for their views on Hiflow
