my heaters arent blowing hot

would a kn filter fitted on a 1.1 make the car lose heat as there is hoses missing or is it a stuck open thermostat
  2. #2
The k&n would make no difference at all mate. Sounds like air in your cooling system. Check pressure in the hoses, check water level and check for water in your oil too...

thers no gunk in oil no overheating all hoses seem warm wen i got car blowers werent working but i fixed that but only getting a trickle of heat i bled system still no heat
  4. #4
heater matrix probs fooked there cheap just a pain to fit but not very hard or just bypass it
  5. #5
bypass it how do u do that and heat seems to be only coming out passengers vent only slightly tho
  6. #6
Sounds like you have an air lock,in your rad, heating system!!...
  7. #7
You mite have to bleed the system few times, and re top up with water, had sim problem, when changed me rad for new one,got it in the end thow.....hope this helps....

Just have to bleed it til you get it right matey!! can be a right pain thow.....
  12. #12
I hope you get it sorted matey.......

Saxos are notorious for a crappy cooling system as air is a real pain to get out due to the lack of height of the expansion tank.

If you've recently had the radiator fitted then thats probably more than likely what it is, unless theres some gunk that has gotten stuck in the heater matrix. If your confident about doing it your self, get a hose in the hose and give it a clean through.

How are you bleeding it may i ask?
  14. #14
If you've got heat coming out of one of the vents, it may be that some of the heater pipework behind the dash, or even the control levers might be knackered. Does it still feel the same when you're adjusting it from the various heater settings?

If it is a case of air in the system, you could try making yourself a better expansion tank by cutting the bottom off an up-turned milk/drinks carton and holding that on top of the existing filler hole. That way you'll be able to get a higher water level and increased pressure to bleed the system with.

air lock in the rad? that a bit dangerous isnt it, i had a tractor do that
at at work nearly blew it up.
  16. #16
Put it this way if you've been driving with air in the system be prepared when you loosen the rad cap!
  17. #17
Best try and fix it before you damage some thing els matey!!!

exactly. dont drive it if the engine temp goes up otherwise you'll do costly damage!

could it be a block in the pipes from the radiator, i had this on my vts, bled the radiator and bob your uncle!
  20. #20
Some times it can be dirt causing it!! but other times when you remove pipe work or change the rad.And the re fill the water system to quickly!! it causes air pockets to form in the system!! which takes a while to bleed out.....

    Hello there:

I'm new to this forum... i have looked at it a few times for advice on my 106, but decided it was time to join yer all.

i'll share my experience with my heater problems, mabye it will shed some light on yours, if im not completley wrong... and mabye someone can help me slove my problem... im hoping...

i got problems with my 106 like nearly every week... but had trouble with the heaters for sometime... my problem sounds similar to Nimrod's. Its blowing slightly warm out of the centre, hardly at all out of the passenger vent and freezing cold out of the driver vent and drivers side windscreen vents... the car only seems to get slightly warm if i have the fan on 1 or mabye 2... if its on full more cold air comes out than warm. I have had the dash out and checked in the engine bay for pipe and tube splits with no luck... i checked under the dash in the centre (where the airbag computer is) and found two very hot pipes, presumably from the heater matrix, suggesting that, that is still working... so i can only guess from that, that it is pulling cold air in from somewhere, most likley the slide's and cables aren't closing off the cold air supply properly... as i said i have had the dash out so far as to access the cables but i have no idea what to do after that, and no idea where the flaps are that shut off the cold air supply to replace them.. i have purchased a haynes manual.. But tbh... had more luck with trail and error, as it hardly says anything... mabye this could be the problem with Nimrod's heating system? (obviously, if it is the problem with mine)

    has anyone got any thoughts?

    Mark.

I have just had this problem yesterday. I took of the bleed nipple with the engine running and kept adding water into the system till all the air had come out. It did take a good drive out before i started getting any heat back. Its still working fine today. I have just had the head gasket replaced on the WRONG advice!

maybe you were just doing it wrong. there is 3 bleed points on all of the saxo/106 engines

The first problem that i had was water was coming out of where you put it in! A friend of a friend looked at it and said that the head gasket needed replacing. Me not knowing gave the go ahead. After this was done the water was still coming out. Then i found out it was just an air blockage. That was a few months back.It was 2 days ago when the heat stopped working. This time i started looking on the internet and found it could be another air blockage. That is when i unblocked it again

Ouch changing head gasket over a air-lock!

Can't see where people go wrong, i've done it a few times.. and never had any problems..

I just open the bleed valves, Cut a bottle up, and constantly pour water in until it come's out of bleed holes.. keep it going abit longer, tighten up - done.

At least you have a new head gasket now though eh?

and power steering pump, 4 new tires, front discs and pads timing belt, connectors cleaned for the immobilizer due to problems with that and the suspension arm ball joints. The car has cost me loads!

Sounds like an air lock to me, bleed the rad
