could anyone tell me what kind of gain fitting new cams to my vtr would give,what are the best to fit,how much to get fitted?thanks

can only fit one cam to a VTR mate.
mixed with right exhaust system, induction kit can get gains of between 8 and 12 bhp.

No idea of fitting as I havent experienced this myself, and all fitters will prob be different.

Piper or Kent cams are the 2 that are most commonly talked about.

i have full exhaust system, de-cat and viper.going to get re-mapped at dastek but heard u will get more power getting re-mapped with cams already in.cheers

yeah its best to leave the re-map till all other mods are done! or you can have the standard ecu re-mapped at the same cost as a dastek.

i was told by turbopacs in durham to only fit a cam with a ported/polished/skimmed head to get the best results other wise its piontless?
where gunna charge in the region of 1 - 1.5k to do that and put a superchip program in. told me not to waste my time and money putting a cam in by itself?

Piper 286 Cams are very cool, on the way to traxs last year I had a race with a 106 which has the same engine as the VTS but with the new cams all he could see was the back of my car and dust. Im not sure what it is like with just one but if its anything like my VTS get one.

I got them from GMC last year for about £500, I got a friend to put them in which saved alot of money. My little car is having new followers fitted 2morrow due to playing with the locals, then she will back to full power

Im not sure how good this will be to a VTR but its sweet on a VTS, speak to GMC they will be able to tell you if its worth it or not, or find the cash for a VTS

vts motor sounds good to me

ive herd of a lad in my area that had a vts with a full performance head kit with cams, filter,chip, full system etc that had 170bhp. what do you reckon?

think he would have need a bit more work to have 170 bhp. my mate has piper cam in his vtr and its quick as fuck! shows me up sometimes.

had a kent cam in me escort and i never made a massive difference, but the saxo engine is totally different, seems to respond well to tuning compaired to the shitty zetecs.
