Cleaning BMC

  1. #1
I got my BMC off ebay last year, and put it straight on.

So it's probably long over due a clean + re-oil.

Can I use the k+N cleaning kit that I have in the garage somewhere, or is it best to get the proper BMC cleaning kit?

    Thanks

yes mate it is washable but that doesnt mean you can put it in the washing machine, lol

this is what i did with mine-
take it apart and knock all the sh*t out of it
get a soft wire brush or stiff tooth brush and brush all the dust out of it
the run it under the hot tap
put it in a warm bucket of water with a drop of fairy liquid and shake it inside untill the water goes black
shake the water out of it and leave it to dry naturally
once dry oil and re-fit. im sure KamRacing will sell the cleaner for the Green filter mate and that should be fine to use

you do have to reoil it .. its the oil that traps the dirt on these performance filters.

I give mine a good shake in the sink, after about 30 mins grit n crap stops coming out.

Then i use a small drop of fairy liquid to finish off any left over oil, rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse..... leave to dry and re-oil.

EDIT: I do this every couple of months.

My question was can I use K+N cleaner and oil on the BMC that I already have?

Have any of you used it?....Or should I buy the proper BMC cleaner & oil kit?
