Help - gearbox or clutch gone

  1. #1
this morning my car was fine when driving and then about 15mins into drivin, the car seemed to wheel spin when puttin a normal ammount of revs on in 1st, 2nd gear. gradually this got worse.

now it wont even find a gear and wont move at all now. i can also put it into gear without putting the clutch in and nothing happens.

any1 no what this could be such as clutch or gearbox etc...rep will be given because need to find out what the problem is asap.

Well it could be Drive shafts maybe? did the box whine at all? clutch feel fine before it went?

I had same sort of problem in work once i was drivin a corsa ragged it in 1st and it broke, i could select gears without clutch but it still wouldnt move

quickets way to tell. Get a mate to do what you were doing and look under the gear near the gearbox. See if one of the inner cv joint is spinning. If it is, the joint or shaft has snapped. If its not, its most likely to be clutch. Worst case scenario is ist the diff or gearbox.

well probably aint clutch cos when my clutch went u could still bump start it in 2nd gear and shunt it into 3rd.. could be somethin simple like a linkage to the gearbox- worst case scenario would be the fly wheel gone- but lets not jump conclusions

to find out if it is the clutch put it in 4th gear then give it some revs then bump the clutch if it stools then your clutch is ok but if it keeps revving your clutch is broken thats how i make shore my clutch is ok

no the gearbox didnt whine at all it felt perfectly fine i dont think its the clutch becuse it was only replaced about 6months ago and it wasnt slipping atall

i thought it could be the drive shafts at first because it seemed as one wheel was just spinnin. i dont think its the linkages because it gradually got worse

no it didnt pull to one side it was drivin fine but with the wheel spin thing happenin, but 100metres down the road it was in gear but wasnt movin unless i used the bitin point on the clutch. then it just stopped workin completely...

like toad said in the other post il have to get the AA out to have a look

Either EuroCarParts or GermanFrenchSwedish. Numbers on the Net, just ring them up and they can deliver.
