3plug or 1 plug

Engine whent tits up today, psiton rod snaped bent valves and a cracked bottom end.

Fortuantly makes for a good excuse to do a vts conversion

my cars a Mk1 1999, will it defently be a single plug ecu and is there an easy way to check ?

also, can anyone show me a photo of what part to pull out to unlock my ecu ?

Look at the ecu to see how many plugs are plugged into it.

The ecu will have to be sent off to get unlocked.

    from tthe 16v conversion thread
    Quote:
Immobiliser, just simply start your engine and then pull your immobiliser out from under the fuse box and this unlocks the ECU and lets you use the 16v one which will need unlocking. I recommend Blue Hawk Electronics in Nottingham for unlocking the 16v ECU. Then shut your engine off, and then restart it to see if it’s worked! But if you have an after market immobiliser instead, then I believe this is not necessary, BUT do it anyway!

im not sure where the imboiliser is to pull out, or know how i can test it

for the ecu it should be a single plug on a 1999 but just whip the plastic cover off the top of the ecu and visually check it only takes a few mins

as for the imob, this is what it looks like and its located behind ya glove box behind the fuses
