Oil leak on my saxo vts Help please

   Hi fokes i have a problem im seem to be getting an oil leak under my car on the passenger side. if you look under the car i can see oil all over my suppesion arm is quite a patch but it not going down mega. Dose anyone know what this might be weather theres a common fault or is just a problem thats uncontolable. Id be much appricitated if someone can give me any info on what i could do. The cars also miss idleing on idle so weather this is the prob causing my car to do this or what. cheers fokes

   ay up mate have you checked to see if there is any oil where your spark plugs are, a mate of mine had a similar problem and his spark plug seals had broke so oil was coming out the engine that way!

   Most Saxo`s leak around the rocker cover seal depending on which model you`ve got it`s an easy thing to fix.You don`t say which model you have.

   whoops sorry i have a saxo vts w reg i think its mark 2 ive notice its at the bottom of the engien not on the top as one member said its spark plugs seal. is that where the coil pack is aint it.

   Try checken your oil breather pipe matey....

   have the sump gasket checked out too my vtr had oil all over underneath car and i found out the previous owner or garage he used had put instant gasket on sump and not proper one, i now have proper one and no more leak.

   My saxo is leakin oil seems to be running down and dripping off the gearbox, not alot, but is always wet! Iv took it to a garage and had both gear box seals done on it as they said this was the problem but after gettin them done it still leaking oil! i dont know where its coming from? it looks like engine oil to me but dont really know the difference between engine oil and gearbox fluid . Its really bugging me now so if any one has any info on what it could be i would be really greatful! cheers Aaron

   get some on your fingers and sniff it. Gearbox oil has a sour, rubbery smell to it. Spilt a bottle on my parcel shelf have been smelling it all summer

    It was a cv joint mate not the gearbox, check that out 1st.

    on an S, check the plastic elbow breather coming out of the cam cover on the passenger side near the servo, often snaps or leaks oil out

    mine does the same by the clutch bell housing. I havnt got round to properly diagnosing it but it could possibly be the drive shaft oil seals. Its a fairly easy job if your confident enough. also try changing the spark plugs if you have not already
