gearbox mullered!!!what can i get?vtr?

   it has been a bit hard recently to change inot 1st,2nd and 4th but i though nothing much of it,
   
   then today on the roundabout it went into 2nd to hard and the whole thing collapsed.
   
   The gearstick moves around and you dont no what gear it is in, for exaple, when in 1st you can move the gear to 5th,
   
   would it be the linkages, or the box

   I have a 1.4 furio
   what gearbox can i get? vts,vtr,1.4,1.1?
   i heard that the 1.1 gearbox has the same gear ratio as the vts box

   yea they are similar, final drives longer in the vts

   have you check the linkages?
   
   mine done this a few weeks back, just needed to put new linkages on and she was fine

   what box would you recommend, i might get a good condition 1.1 box, this wont affect insurance will it?

   i thought it was the linkages at first, but every gear is gone, the gearstick just moves around where ever it wants
   could it be the synchro, the selector

   have you checked all 3 linkages?
   
   sounds just like mine.

   i'll take a look
   when its in neutral or looks like neutral, and i push it acrross there is pinging noise as it hits something metal(metal on metal sound)

   FIXED IT!!! well happy with myself, wasnt a big job, one of the sockest came off the ball joint on the linkages, simply popped back on
   
   but now i have to buy some new linkages so it wont happen again, under £10
   new gear box would have been around £300 fitted
   = propa chuffed
