Saxo Vts Piston Or Barrel Bore??

  1. #1
Hi peeps does anyone on here know off the top of there head the piston size or the bore of the barrel of a saxo vts as my mate has just bought a saxo turbo and it has just scorred the barrell and he is wanting to know whether the barrell on the vts can be rebored with the forged pistons that he is running or is it a new block for him???

By barrel i assume you mean cylinder?

    Standard bore is 78.5mm
You can get forged pistons off the shelf from GMC etc at 79mm. And i beleive you can get them done in 80mm in some rare instances.

Yes - he can get the cylinder rebored (assuming it hasn't already been done). But he's probably looking at new pistons to fit the new width.

yeah the cylinder mate sorry, he has gmc forged pistons but i dont know which he has atm, just finding out as one of my other mates has been stripping it down and found that the cylinder has been scorred so looks like a new block (well probs a full engine) as this will be cheaper than buying new pistons lol

Yeah - new block would be cheaper than buying new pistons + rebore.

However if the cylinder is scored - what are the pistons like? Could possibly have damage to them as well :?

In which case - if he needs to buy new pistons anyhow - may be worth getting larger ones + rebore for the extra CC

he is on a tight budget to be honest so he will just have to take his time mate, looks like he might be able to get away with just rings at first glance but when its all fully stripped i will know better then thanks for your help..
