just found this on ebay, guessing its another version of the resistor just more expensive. thought id put it up to warn people. if im wrong then corect me, may well be perfectly decent mod, im guessing not though

cant see how they can remap your car at your house without a rolling road or anything to fine tune it?

I seen these advertised too, not sure if its genuine or not.

I know the software can be downloaded and using the obd socket to connect it up and transfer the settings but not sure how it can be done and proven without a rolling road like you say.

I bought a cd from ebay with all the data on it and an obd socket/cable and tried to see if i could do it myself but my car wouldnt recongnise the data from the cd.

They can live map it by just driving up and down the road, wont get any bhp readings though.

If your going to spend that sort of money you may aswell save a little longer and have it done and a company that has a good reputation. I.E Wayne

i would have thought it it was do-able more tuners would do it as I thought only a few people can remap the standard ecu well (wayne something is the only person I've heard of)

    Agree totally.

This could be someone with a laptop that just tweaks here and there or just loads up a map from another car....

There are companys advertising in my local yellow pages that do on your doorstep re-mapping by driving up and down etc

Altho i would prefer to pay abit more and take it somewhere proffesional tbh

hey guys this is genuine. Alcester is 10 mins from my house. My mate has used the company and said there really good, friendly and very helpful. Ob it wouldnt be as good as going to the rollers but i think its more a convenience thing

these maps are done by taking advantages of the tolerances left by the manufacturer. a VW tdi has about 40% tolerance in what the engines standard part will take to make sure they have an easy life when it comes to warranty claims etc.

by unleasing these tolerances to more like 10% you get the extra power without damging the engine.

dont quote me but i read something like that somewhere before.

The advert says they custom map your ECU to your car when they come out. Great news

But then it says, you can post the ECU to do the same thing......without the presence of your car? lol

    Maybe I misunderstood
