Whats wrong with 6x9’s in a saxo?

  1. #1
i was just wondering because loads of people seem not to advise them?

This thread will make Scotts night when he gets on later..
We will let him explain as he always gives a great rundown.

Although I'm inclined to agree with what he says, it also down to personal preference, and what type of sound quality you want. Ive got them in mine as they came with my car, but Im not into big sound systems really.

ive got some 7x10's in mine and like al i aint into big ice installs at all, i only got mine cos they were cheap from my bro's work and i wanted my speakers to be louder, which they now are and i think they sound really nice.
  4. #4
I have got some in mine and if you set them up well they will sound great.
  5. #5
its all down to personal choice - but as Alex said, Scott will give you a full rundown
  6. #6
again, personal choice, but like Alex they came with my car when i bought it, and i'm not into big systems either so they do the job.
  7. #7
i have them in my car!! and i dont think theres anything wrong with them!!
  8. #8
i have infinity 6x9's and they make so much difference in teh car and outside, i would recommend them to every1 who wants a loud system in there car.

    Thats my opinon.
  9. #9
2 b honest i dont think there is anything wrong with them, as everybody else has said its about personal preferrence but thats the beauty of modifying your car
  10. #10
theres not a lot right with them tbh. They dont do any of the jobs that they try to do well.

May i urge anyone to take a look at proper ice cars. Not silly max power ones. Never have i seen an SPL car or an SQ car with 6x9's. Says it all for me.

i got boss 6x9's 315watss each dey just connected insetad of standard rear speakers, sound bloody nice. getting an amp 4 dem to improve sound, also getin a sony explod 1200watt sub which should be a sik system!
  12. #12
people mite not advise them as its a tricky job to get them install cos you need to take off some of the panels to get to the wires from the rear speakers!
  13. #13
personal choice and the type of music!

i have them in the car and with them amped and the frequencies setup correctly they do an amazing job
  14. #14
ive got a set of pioneer 6x9`s and they sound v nice!
    look very nice aswell!
    defo get some!
  15. #15
sorry but anyone who knows will tell you why they are rubbish, if you must have rear speakers then get some decent ones
  16. #16
So 6x9's are crap Lets look at what scott is running on his Shelf CLICK AND LOOK AT ICE Yes if you are running 2 pairs of 6x9's on a shelf and only 13cm in the front you will put the staging well out of balance.
  17. #17
yeah from how many years ago

Before i educated myself to how truly mince they are.
  18. #18
can't complain if they are setup correctly..mine sounds sweet!

    but it all depends on:

    -type of music
    -ICE setup in the car
-where you want the sound stage to be
  19. #19
Aye, Scotts is rather different now! lol
  20. #20
another few hundred quid to be spent very soon
  21. #21
if i was to buy component for the front 13cm speakers and the rear 10cm speakers, wherw wud i put the crossover box???i wud want it to be hidden?for the rear speakers i cud put it on the inside of the rear card panel.but for the fron speakers i dnt know how cuz there isnt any space?
  22. #22
they're usually put in the pockets of the front door cards(the little pocket nearest the b-pillar). for the rears then i suppose you could hide them behind the rear panel.
  23. #23
I have some 6x9's to fit still, i bought them ages ago just havent got round to it yet.

6x9's are ok if you dont wanna spend alot, and dont want it that loud.

mine went a long time ago, i only had em in for a week then got my sub and the 6 x 9 where pointless becuase the bass came from the sub. Also i didnt like the way the vocals came from the back of the car so i just kept my front comps.
