Right then i have tried to set my tappets up on my saxo but its still tapping is this normal?
I have tried to set them up when its warm is this wrong ?
I have also looked on the kent website wich says 0.25mm for inlet and exhaust so should i set the tappets when stone cold?
many thanks to aid from tiffs for the clicky i didnt understand at frist but i have got it now but i need to know if it needs to be cold when setting them up many thanks for any advice

supposed to set them cold, setting them warm usually works better.
Cam in a mk2 vtr usually requires harder valve springs

its not a wild cam in it its a kent pt 40 wich is a 266 cam on the website and will the stiffer springs stop it tapping then matey

do mk2s tap when they are cammed anyway or should they be quiet

8v do tap more with a steeper cam usually, i'd check with kent if they recommend harder springs for that cam or not.

okay matey will do but they need to be set when they are cold then sorted

cheers all i will try it later on tonight because i set the warm to what it states on the kent website and it still taps like a fiesta so how much quieter will they be when i set them cold i have also put some of the oil stuff in thats in purple can the thick sticky stuff made by wynns i am still stuck on what cam timing to set it on wether to advance or retard it or what i have the 4-1 manifold to put back on will this make much difference because it seems to be sluggish at the mo it says that the powerband of the cam is from 20.000 revs but it doesnt feel to pull at all until your revving it towards the 40 0r 50 on the rev counter i am going to try to get it rolling roaded at kershaws this weekend to see if they can set it up for me because i havent got a clue i thought i was a case of putting it in and wahey but it needs a setup and a remap

i have 285 cams fitted to my 98bhp vtr and mine tap alot. also my powerband don't really kick in till about 4k revs. but i was told i won't really get anything from them until the pulley is set up right and it deffo needs a remap.

yeah mine needs setting up too will it need doing on a rolling road then because it using alot of petrol at the mo and also i have a 4-1 manifold will this make the most of the cam job by freeing up the revs
