#2hamerite.. i heard its good stuff. (SP)

#3hammerite will do the job but you want to try and get the surface as rust free as possible before painting it - so get the wire brush out. give it a few coats and it will last longer too, just slap it on with a brush and it won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

#4cheers peeps, which one to go for? is it the garage door one?

the wee tin that's about £7 or £8 should easily be enough, you might only end up using half. -
#6no just the hammerite you can buy at halfords, its either in a spray can or a paint tin. use this because it takes high temperature.

#10cheers peeps, tried enamel paint and just came off even after a full on prep by getting rid of rust. im basically trying other methods to see if the effects are better.
powder coating i have thought of but im more into keeping it running smoothly until i graduate and get a job and new car mate.
