What type of engine is mine?
-
#1
-
#2it wont fit, if its for a black top.
you got the 90hp silver top engine. -
#3blacktop only im afraid. IIRC the journal sizes are different on some silvertops.
-
#4how many plugs does your ecu have?
early 2000 mk2 models have the mk1 engine in which is a 1 plug ecu and is (90bhp) late 2000 onwards have the mk2 engine in which has a 3 plug ecu (98bhp) -
#5its an s reg so 90bhp engine, seller lied to me then now got a useless piece of metal.
is mine the roller type engine then?
cheers for getting back people -
#6its deffinatly mk1 silvertop though will it still not fit? not sure if anyone is confused it being the mk2 engine, im wishing now just want the cam in lol
-
#7PT13 is the one I think you should have got im sure thats what mine is in my saxo lol.
http://www.kentcams.com/
do a search by car
-
#8i did but it just says vtr doesnt say which model vtr iv already checked there
cheers anyway mate -
#9actually contact them send them an email

im sure if you put yoru cam up for sale in the FS section it will sell pritty quickly then use that money to buy the one for your saxo
-
#10i cant post in there i tried, it comes up with a message saying i need 50 posts which i have but wont let add a for sale add
-
#11well when did you get your 50th post?
might have to take 24 hours for it to take effect. dont worry you will get the chance to post in there just dont spam loads of threads to try and get your post count up okies
.
the way around the post thing tho is look in the for sale section see who has vtr's and are looking to buy stuff, post them a PM and try and sell them your Cam that way
.
click on the users name select private messages then write one to them
also do a search in the wanted section on the site some people ask if anyone has cams for sale

hope I have helped you out in the best way I can. -
#12yes mate very helpful, everyone on heres so much more helpful than ssc, some people are good but no where near as much as you guys cheers
-
#13Black = non-roller
Grey & solver = roller -
#15Maybe the rocker cover has been changed?
Still take the rocker cover off and check mate! -
#16what would i be looking for though to know which type it is
-
#17all you need to do is tell us how many plugs your ecu has and we fully can confirm what you have
-
#18just the 1, and im sure that the black top uses ht leads doesnt it where as mine has the coil pack system
-
#19what year is your saxo?
-
#20its an s reg 1998
-
#22he did after i aske him lmao.
-
#23so your saxo has a coil pack and has a silver top rocker cover though your saxo is 1998.
sounds more and more like a later vtr (2000 model) lump has been put into your saxo lol.
othr way you cna find out is by looking at your radiator hose
see in the pics
1 - 1996-1998 Blacktop cover = 90bhp

2 - 1998-2001 Silvertop cover with catalytic convertor under the car, 1 plug ecu = 90bhp

radiator hose on the right near the block head they have different adaptors
if your not sure what im on about look at the hose next to the dipstick and you will notice a difference. -
#24Sounds like the car is just one of the first with a silvertop engine!Quote:so your saxo has a coil pack and has a silver top rocker cover though your saxo is 1998.

mine is the same I have a W reg (2000) vtr mk2 body but its a mk1 engine silver top its like half mk1 engine and half mk2 engine drives the machanics up the wall lol. -
