would a 106 gti engine y reg be one plug or 3 plug,

    Thanks in advance, Tim

Would of though it be a 3 plug if they use same engines as the Saxo VTS and im about 90% sure VTS's have 3 plugs on 2001 Y plates

But best to wait for a 2nd opinion
  3. #3
yea but the engine will work with a single plug loom....
  4. #4
dont have a VTS single plug loom or ecu

thanks for the info though guys

All vts/gti engine after sept 2000 are 3 plug ecu engines

im sure gti looms are different, mines a 2 plug loom. its off a 1999 car.

What about a R reg gti ? thats 1997 isnt it ? ive asked the seller if its a 3 plug but im not 100% if they know lol

i'm sure the gti has a 2 plug loom, at least either the early or late gti does

early gti looms where 2 plug where loom connects to rest of the car and 1plug on the ecu,

The 2nd plug doesn't really do much tho. I bought a vts loom for mine tho, plug n play, well kinda

hmm, so basically you can fit any year 1.6 16v engine mk 1 or 2 gti or vts to a mk1 vts
ASLONG as i use a mk1 vts loom and (unlocked) ECU

ok, apologies for the massive amount of questions, really need an engine for my car now
how hard is it to fit a 206. 1.6, 16v engine to a mk1 vts ? are the engine mounts the same? and i presume the wiring will be very different.

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

if it's the same as the c2 engine then I think it goes in using the saxo mounts. You'd have to use a saxo vts inlet/throttle body though. Then i 'think' you can use saxo ecu and wiring but not 100% sure on the ins and outs of it. I think gmc offer a complete conversion kit for using this engine, might be worth giving them a call.

managed to source a R reg 106 gti engine kinda locally, 450 for the engine, gerabox ,ecu(not unlocked by the sounds of things) and wiring loom.

What would i need to unlock the ecu, is it just the imbomiliser and key ? or is there anything else i need?

also heard that i can use the gti loom just need to chop the loom at one end and make it one plug, anyone have any knowledge fo this ?

Can this guy also give you one key to that car and the black immobiliser box from underneath the glove box from the same car. It would save you needing to get the ECU unlocked.. Just have to remove the immobilser pickup from around the ignition barrel, tape the 106gti key to it and hide it behind the dash board.. Retain your existing VTR key to open and start the car... thats what I did.. Saved Citroen reprogramming, or running an unlocked ECU..

Make sure that you also get a downpipe for the 16v engine, as the 8v isnt the same. Oh yeh, and a radiator.. Everything else it transferable from the VTR.
