saxo vts 2000 cc

hello to all the proud saxo-owners out there!
I've this question bothering me the last couple of weeks.
Would it be possible to fit a 2000cc engine from a xsara vts coupe(talking about 163 hp) into a saxo vts and still have a reliable and safe car? If yes....what changes have to be made?
    Vas from Greece.

Im afraid this wont fit with the greatest of ease, as opposed to the 16v 1.6 engine from a saxo VTS will.

To get the 2litre engine in, alot of work to the bulkhead of the engine will have to be done, extending wings, bonnet, and even width of arches.
The mounts would be different, so new ones would have to be fabricated to facilitate this also.

Also, once 'successfully in' and running properly, the weight at the front of the car will cause the saxos perfect handling to decrease, and perform (handling wise) alot worse than the smaller engines in saxos do.

Xsara VTS engine is the same as Peugeot 306 GTi6 engine , only without the 6 speed gearbox, by the way.

This thred has caused me to ask this question!???

i would ring www.PUG-PERFORMENCE.com if u are serious about putting a 2ltr in a saxo, cause have heard that they have done some

206 gti engine has been tried and was given up due to costs not being worth it, and tbh the 206 engine is tame as with only 138bhp, and trying to find a gti 180 engine would probably be a mission

cant you just bore out the 1.6 vts engine?
  11. #11
ive seen a gti-6 motor and gearbox in a 106 and it was running throttle bodies!! but it had a shit load of work done to it and would have used a few tubs of vasilene and a big shoe horn to get it in!!!
im sure it had a load of body mods done to accomidate for the engine size.

if you're talking about the blue wide-arch 106, it's an Mi16 engine, about the same size as a Gti6, cost the owner about 12grand to get the engine in.
no way could you bore a vts out to 2000cc, probably no more than 1700cc-1750cc, depends on the thickness of the block.

the GTI6 g/box is so long! i was going to drop1 in my sax, but decided not, i really did need to be able to steer...

talkin of engine conversions has any1 ever thoight of rear wheel drivein there sax! has it bin done! how did it perform!? i ask PTS (performance Turbo Systems breifly, they said they could do it, with an engine swop... any thoughts guys!?
  14. #14
i know theres a 106 rear wheel drive conversion
  15. #15
so thats must mean a saxo can be done! Right???

isn't there a citroen 4 wheel drive van? if the gearbox and transfer box fitted onto a vts engine, you could use the back axle and make it 4 wheel drive you'd have to get rid of the rear torsion bars, but that's no bad thing!
there was a guy with a fiesta turbo who used the g/box, transfer box and back axle from a mondeo 4x4 and converted his fiesta to 4 wheel drive. so working on that principal it'd be mental if it worked.

u could just run 2 engines lol 2 x vts enines one for the front wheels and one for the back.
  18. #18
    rear wheel drive 106

you can bore out the vts engine, but not by much. Wouldnt even attempt it if it was boosted the cyclinder walls are border line to thin standard
