i need my mk2 vtr quicker?

    alright people. sorry if i post this in the wrong place im new to this site.

    i have got a mk2 2000 w reg saxo vtr (silver top 100bhp) its got a full stainless steel zorst system and a green cotton induction kit with air filter breathers but im starting to find it to slow i havnt got mega amounts to spend so whats the best thing to upgrade next?

    GMC or raceland manifold?
    Cam it?

    btw your saxo is not a 100bhp its 90 bhp as I have a W reg vtr aswell.models in 2001 onwards have the 98bhp engine.

    Vts/106 xsi gear box. Will make a noticable difference to acceleration.

    Single cam on a vtr.

    285 profile is best suited to standard inlet/pistons. With a decent exhaust manifold, system, airfilter - add a cam with decent valve springs and vernier pulley, get a remap your looking at 120bhpish, maybe more maybe less.

    VTS gear box has a taller final drive. Better aceleration yet reduced actual speed at rpm.

    Xsi box has a even taller final drive.

    Other way round - shorter boxes, higher rpm at speed!

    Upgrade your brakes?
    Strip the car lightweight wheels - power to weight is where its at!

    By taller i mean higher. The higher the number of the final drive, the shorter the ratios

    I wouldnt bother with any engine mods on a vtr, i'd fit bigger brakes and better suspension - that way if you upgrade to a vts you can take them with you, or revert to standard if you sell up and move on.

    Always remember that there will come a point when modding the VTR (unless you specifically want 8v supercharged power) where it will be better to just buy a VTS if you can afford the insurance mate. Even a mildly cammed vtr will struggle to hit the 60 dash quicker than vts, and certainly the 0-100mph times.

    sorry just have to say, ive got a Xreg 2000 mk2 vtr and ive got the 98bhp engine, some 2000 models rolled out with the 98bhp engine

    i bet my vtr can beat a standard vtr to 60 and 100 but i also bet a vts with half the amount of mods would beat me lmao

    i think to get the power from a vtr get a 4 branch and a cam and remap
    could maybe get some head work depending on the budget youve got

    Why mod a VTR. Your gona spend money on cam, exhaust, induction and a remap for 130bhp. Why not sell and buy a vts get some breathing mods and have 130bhp.

    na why buy a engine and everything to go with it. Just sell the VTR and with the money you get, buy a VTS.

    you could buy a vts lump and make it nuts before you put it in
    forgies bodies head work cams just go mental
    and couple it to an xsi box with a quaife dif and youd be away!!!

    would cost a lot though
    youd get that power you want though

    im modding my vtr jus to be diff. Its common to get a vts engine and i can see why people do it. I dont want huge amounts of power otherwise i would buy something more powerful to start with.

    i have a decat, bmc, and vts gearbox.

    managed to stay with a gti and a c2 vts

    there are quite a few guys who stick to th vtr engine and ive seen some good figures by them
    to be honest i think most people would be happy with a vtr with the right mods

    itll stil be driveable
    wereas a vts lump tuned to the hills will probably be useless unless its purely a toy for weekend track abuse
    ive got cams ect in mine and i never realy get to use it as im pooteling round town ect

    its at the weekend on the lanes and stuff lol
    and the upcoming track days where mine will get used properly

    and unless its that sort of stuff your planning to do a vtr with good breathing ect will be a perfect car

    plus with the big figures youve gotta sort out a way of getting it to the tarmac so a decent suspension set up transmission ect would be needed aswell
