Refitting old shocks quick question...

  1. #1
Bought GMAX Suspension kit (i know stupid idea) i was after suspension on a budget at the time lol

the shocks are how shall i put it... fucked! so i want to leave the springs on and refit my standard shocks till i get backpay from work and get spax or bilstein setup from KAM racing etc. they did less than 15k from new befoer being removed - 2002 saxo and have been off the car for 5 years odd.

Question - Will they refit and work ok? i know ecventually they will feck up being standard and 60mm drop but its for a stop gap as the noises i got at mo concern me.

and is the shock swap an easy job? mate has spring compressors etc so cant see it being hard (apart from losing my locking nut key)

yes it's an easy job if you can get the hubnut off and standard shocks will be ok but they will bottom out like hell at -60mm. you'll get away with it for a short while though.

Yeah its easy enough mate! The driveshaft nuts will be tight as feck but that the only problem you'll have!

Make sure you have a T40 torx bit for the top mount too!

if the springs are stiff enough then they shouldn't bottom out. Worth changing though as soon as you can ..

no way -60mm springs will be hard enough to not bottom out, to be that hard and still be -60mm they'd have to be about 200mm in length which would just fall out of the strut Think he said he had gmax anyway which are gash

cheers everyone whos replied, much appreicated. im aware the standard suspension isnt the best as my car 1st started on 60 mm springs and standard dampers was ok but knew i could get better with full setup and i saved up an got gmax shocks an springs but regret it now 9didnt take long to save though ) lol

ideally i want to go 40mm and try get some damn comfort back after this lol
