mounting BMC

  1. #1
hi all. recently picked myself up one of these but having trouble mounting it without it rattling.

    how it is atm....

mounted it with the brackety thing to the battery mount thing (technical ) but it rattles like mad around 3k revs. wanted to know where others have attached theres too?

a mate of mine has it attached to a bolt which seems to be on the side of the head? only bolts i can see are the ones around the stat housing.

p.s ignor my dodgy breather i have oil catch tank now. lol.

its cause its mounted to the battery tray
    i did that with mine
but when you drive the engine moves so you need to attach it to the side of the engine really

ok to whip out one of the thermostat housing bolts? stick it on there?

sometimes you can get away with a good silicon pipe, my friends 106 BMC sits perfect and thats just with a strong silicon hose aka no support

it looks very close to the strut brace - is that where its rubbing?
  7. #7
it's no so much rubbing. just moving around. although that could be where it is now rattling. havnt thought of that.

i ran it without a bracket for a while but you were able to hear it banging on things over bumps etc. but now i've mounted it just rattles at 3k revs. might try pushing it down a bit and see where that leaves me.

ram air was very import for BMC, U need a induction
    pipe ram straight to front.

then, suggest you leave the original big clam, then
get a L steel, one fix to engine block, another fix with
    induction clam.

I believe it will better than your current setup.

I made a small bracket that cradels the underside of the inlet lip. It just bolts in behind dipstick mount
