bonnet raisers?

#1
-
#2i think they look good if your goin 4 the track look or race/rally style. ment to let more air into the engine bay. in my opinion i dont like the look of them on mk2's as the grill is part of the bonnet, fink they suit mk1's a lot better, see wot evry1 else finks aswel, then decided.
-
#3personally i like them, people are gonna say no point unless your running big power etc but i think it doesnt matter. my mates vts is only running 140bhp no turbo or nothing and hes got them and his car looks sick. do what you like mate dont worry about what everyone else says otherwise all our cars would look the same vts rims,4omm drop, dimma grill lol people on hear are to scared to be different on hear incase of geting slated
-
#4ha ha true i dnt want to many mods but think i do like the raisers. alot peeps sayin they dnt go on mk2 tho, ill av to find sum pics n see. thanx lads
-
#5they will fit on mk2's mate, defo. the hinges/fixings are the same for the bonnet. my mate had them on his furio.
-
#6ha sory i mean alot of people say they dnt look gud on mrk 2. my brumie slsang cummin out in my tx ha
-
#7here is a pic of mine with them on, decided i didn't like them so took them off. just bought them to see what they looked like cos they were only £9.00
-
#8Second that.Quote:i think they look good if your goin 4 the track look or race/rally style. ment to let more air into the engine bay. in my opinion i dont like the look of them on mk2's as the grill is part of the bonnet, fink they suit mk1's a lot better, see wot evry1 else finks aswel, then decided.
I wouldn't touch them dude as unless your running bodies etc.
they wont make much difference tbh -
#9They only look good on mega power drag cars if you ask me. Looks bloody stupid on a Saxo, like you havent put it on properly.
-
#10i dont think they look right on a mk2, but i think they suite a mk1 pretty well...
-
#11true dose look gud in that pic on mk1
-
#12thanks
-
#13No off. but save your money and sort the exhaust out dude
-
#16ha ha, think the exhaust is 1st on the menue. bonnet raisers was more a curiosity thing ha
-
#17lol good good manQuote:ha ha, think the exhaust is 1st on the menue. bonnet raisers was more a curiosity thing ha

Wont regret getting the zorst sorted first as they make such a difference to the look/sound and usually performance.
Id stick with a bacbox 3.5" or smaller tho for looks and sounds dude as 4" are huge!
I hate my backbox atm and cant wait for my Piper to be fitted. -
#18i think they look shit it makes the bonnet look like it doesnt fit rite but each to there owni suppose
-
#19id get the supersprint center, then get a oval backbox
they look sweet on saxo's
-
#21Bonnet lifters look quite cool, but they increase engine temperatures dramatically. Despite what everyone thinks about them...
-
#22cant see how tbh because it allows air to escape and circulate
-
#23Would'nt say it increases engine temps, but on the otherhand would'nt say makes them cooler...lol
All down to personal preference really. Some like them, some don't! -
#24agree'd mate, my thinking is heat rises and with the little panel gap thats made it has somewhere to go.Quote:Would'nt say it increases engine temps, but on the otherhand would'nt say makes them cooler...lol

i work in aerospace though so i would think like this, working with high temps and stuff all the time. -
#25ive jus made y self some of these up for about 3 quid from B&Q, i quite like them tbh, agreed they look better on mk1s though
-
#26When the bonnet is fitted correctly a vacuum forms, allowing pressure to build up and force the air over the engine.
If you fit lifters then this vacuum is decreased, therefore the hot air takes longer to escape, hence, rise in temperature.
They are also very dangerous!
If you were to get an under bonnet fire, the flames are not kept within the bonnet, but instead they are released up to the windsreen and up the scuttle panel! Not good!
Thats why they are not used in motorsport. -
#27have to agree there. The actuall engine block does not need a great airflow. Cooling is done via oil coolers or water radiators.Quote:Bonnet lifters look quite cool, but they increase engine temperatures dramatically. Despite what everyone thinks about them...
Turbulent air in the engine bay is bad for aerodynamics and cooling
In motorsport you "duct in, duct out" -
#28how much longer roughly de bolts got to be?
-
#29
do not like them, but its your car and taste, realy up to you buddy.
