manifold heat wrap?

where can i get it? getting a manifold next week n gonaa heatwrap it, is there any performance gains from doin this?

think u can get it on ebay or probly some motor shops, dont think u get gains in horse power as such but it helps keep the under bonnet temp down which is always a good thing and will prevent the induction sucking in hot air which aint good for performance, but if your serious about performance u should hav an enclosed induction anyway.
so think will help car run better but i also heard it can increase the chances of your manifold cracking but not sure if thats true.

it increases the heat of the manifold and therefore heating the exhaust gases which then in turn makes them flow faster through the exhuast stystem

alredy got enclosed carbon induction mate, so heat wrapping is a good idea?

I would say yes was thinking about it myself coz i already got manifold but then heard about increase in cracking wen they r heat wrapped so put me off. can any1 tell us if thats true or just know it alls talking crap lol.

i got mine from nimbus motorsport (google cause i cant remember how it was for the site)
comes as a kit with all the ties ect
130 qiud for a 100 ft (waaaaay to much for a mani i did my whole system)

    but its definatly worth it

you can get them from ebay for about £30-£40 with the stainless steel cable ties, and they are more than enough for a manifold

Just beware than once you have fitted it, the manifold will smoke for a while like its on fire, scares the shit out of you when you first see it, But it is normal and will die off after running car for about 5-10mins

As for cracking, the manifold is only mild steel and extreme temperature can cause cracking (note the EXTREME temperatures).

I used 50ft to wrap a 4-1 manifold, plus had some left after (prob enough to wrap a de-cat to give you an idea)

So wouldn't it be best to keep the hole system hot and not just the manifold? Surley wrapping the system right to the back box would be better.

It probably would be but imagine all the wet/mud/dirt/filth from the road splashin up onto your exhuast wrap on your whole exhaust system, would make it stink/smoke all the time.

Upto you though, could make a difference!
