problems

   i have a mk2 vtr and i am havin problems. when i am in neutral my car revs all the way to red line when i do not have my foot on the accelerater. i am havin to turn my car of when i get to lights and roundabouts then restart when i can go. has any one else had this problem or does any one no how to fix it?

   Can only be one of three things, the throttle cable is stuck somewhere, if you take off you air filter, you should be able to see the butterfly is totally sealed in the throttle.
   
   Could be your idle control valve is faulty and is jammed wide open, but even in this case i have never seen a car rev to redline??
   
   Or it is a HUGE air leak somewhere, like the plenum is damaged or missing bolts.

   Take the throttle cable off the throttle body , does it still rev up or not?
   Sticking throttle cable ?

   i will try these thing tomo and see if they work? is it an expensive job if its idle control? can i diy all of these jobs? am a little bit pennyless at the mo lol.
