Rear Drum Solid(advice needed)

  1. #1
    Hi
I have a 2001 desire and the rear offside drum is solid.
It will not revolve and i cannot get it to start to extract.I think the shoes have extended past thier maximum adjustment and are now fully wedged open.
Any ideas on how to remove the drum before I end up having to somehow cut it off.

    Is the handbrake off, lol??

On a serious note though, you may just have to try and wedge a screwdriver behind it to try and move the drum out, if you think the shoes are shot, it don't matter if you damage then as they will be replaced

Tried moving the drum with a series of hammers (getting bigger) and a brass drift.
Ended up breaking a piece off of the rim of the drum!!!!!!!!!!

poss there is a lining thats come adrift from the shoe
if thats the case will be a b#####d to remove
try putting wheel back on and turning it as will get
    more leverage

Brake shoes are screwed. Done it on both our westcoast beams as well before we changed them for disk beams
