  1. #1
my clutch on my VTS needs changing, so while im at it im goin to drop a 1.4xsi box in it. im at bit skint at the moment and i wouldnt mind tryin to change it myself.

ive had a search on here and want to know if there is there a guide on replacing the gearbox and clutch on sax-p.

if i do change the box myself what tools will i need, and whats the basic process of changing it?

    cheers bojay

    A Haynes manual.

Tells you everything in there, changed the clutch on my 1.1 last summer at some point only took a couple of hours.

    same here

    "whys it not coming off"

    "hit it?"

    "wait theres a bolt here"

    quite an eas job tbh

5 bolts with allen key fittings holding the gearbok on.

clutch housing is has 6 bolts holding it on.

just make sure you put the clutch plate on the right way round.

it is quite easy but not as easy as ppl are making out if you dont have experience. tim-1 makes it sound like you just un-do those "5 bolts" and it drops off. has kind of forgotten taking the suspension apart, the driveshaft assembly (including bearing on o/s), wireing, gearbox oil, clutch allignment, release bearing, cable, linkage etc etc.

iv done loads, done mine last week but just pointing dont expect it to be as easy as people try to make out.

and tim the clutch plate wont bolt down the wrong way as with alot of clutch's, it hits on the flywheel
