driveshaft or worse??

I have noticed that my steering seems to click loudly when I turn it now after I've got back from the drag strip and I looked under the car and fluid is leaking from the driveshaft at the end nearest to the engine. Is this a driveshaft problem or worse clutch, gearbox etc?

Could well be driveshaft, mate, jack the car up and inspect the inner cv boot for the leak, thats the only way your going to be able to tell really, just have a look for yourself around that area.

if it is the drive shaft how much do you reckon a garage will want for the parts and labour?

Driveshafts are usually around the £90ish mark mate.

There easy to do yourself so if your mechanically minded should be a DIY job.

Ive never done one before and done mine on my vts in about 30 mins, longest part is stripping everything down to get to it.

is it just as easy as taking the old one out and putting the new one in?
will the tracking be out if I do the driveshaft myself?

    Shouldnt really effect tracking mate.

If you have an intermidiate bearing you need to just undo 2 bolts on that and rotate them 90 degrees and the shaft just pulls out and push new one in.

If you have a haynes manual it tells you exactly what to do in there.

I thought it was well easy but have a check first

if it's not the drive shaft then whats the worst it could be bearing in mind that the car still drives fine just makes the clicking noise and leaks fluid?

Usually if its clicking when turning whilst moving then driveshaft as there is a leak i would put money on it, not many other things that leak really if its when turning. Have a look and inspect it, its the only way of telling really mate
