my vtr engine is coming upto 94k.

would it be a good idea to cam it?

or will it just be unreliable?

    thoughts? and experiences.

Mileage is just a number mate. If it's serviced regular and the belt's been done then I wouldn't worry in the slightest!

could do with a good service.

and its never let me down

If I was you then, service it (Oil, filter, box oil, coolant) and Buy a cam. Then get thecam fitted along with a new belt and tesnioner. That way, the car will be ready healthy for a while with the cam fitted.

The most important thing when fitting a cam though is mapping. If you run to lean, it'll pink and destroy it, to rich and you'll end up with coked up valves and pistons.

I wouldn't think there'd be any problem, just replace the belt and tensioner, give it a good service, and if you're really picky, go for a head gasket for piece of mind!

it shouldnt be a problem, the cams will become slightly oval over time causing them not to lift the valves fully, which results in loss of power, but the amount if fairly small. you can get new cams but its not really worth it. and i bet you wouldnt notice the difference even if you did fork out for them!
