Bonnet Scoop

  1. #1
hey just wondering whether ppl like bonnet scoops and whether they think mine looks good. only got round to sticking it on as i think im going for a full respray cos i cba to paint everything my self as oringally planned. dunno whether i should smooth it in either heres some photos, tell me what u think:

Also my mate thinks that having this scoop on will reduce the top speed and acceleration by quite alot.... is this true? and is it worth cutting thru underneath so airflow is directed at engine evn though i have a enclosed forced induction?

    thanks, will be repped!

    hate them tbh end of!

not realy to my taste but its your car mate do what you want, then again its a beta scoop than most people who put them on get, usualy people bang scooby lookalike ones on which just look crap imo
  4. #4
lol yer i know, i hate the scoops ppl get on here, immensely unnecessarily over the top with all these grills and shit on them... i went for this one as i like the scoop u find on the dodge viper and charger and i think the front of a saxo vtr looks like a small viper lol. the scoop adds a bit more aggressiveness to it as i think the mk2 vtrs look a bit girly at the front so yer. still duno whether to smooth it in or leave it or also cut it through for engine cooling and i still don't know whether this effects the speed much, obviously it create air resistance but i duno if it gonna do much tho

    Whats Does Anyone else think?

Should have the one's you can get for ctr's. Just sticking out behind the bonnet.

    Sleeper scoop

i dont mind mine tbh tho i need to get it re done as its cracking GRRRRRRRRR.

btw fancy selling your side skirts to me lol.
need those exact ones ot finish my saxo project off lol

if you are goin all out on it and making a show car or a seriously heavily modded saxo then yes but if your keeping it mostly standard then no as it wont look right at all. bit like how your side skirts sit now dude they look wank lol due to you have standard front and rear bumpers so all the levels if you look are way off!

lol well im color coding the car and modding the front bumper. not using it as show car just as a normal car tbhthe side skirts arnt fully on yet, still need to glue a few bits down as its not flush on body work in someplaces. and i just bought these side skirts not long ago lol!!! i cnt sell them alredy. nothing been painted yet but im thinking about full respray anyway.

what you must remember is your modding it so tell your insurance plus get a good alarm fitted modded cars always attract nobheads.

on hte inside try and be subtle but at the sametime make it noticable.
what i mean by this is you dont want the outside of your car to be a WOW factor to people then they look inside and go ohh its all standard oh big woo.

il tell you this as its a FACT!
most boy racers only do tinted windows, bodykit and usally change the lights and alloys and lower the ride on springs.

proper modifier goes all out spends loads and you can tell instantly who is a modifier and who is a boy racer as a boy racers car is like a project thats only 30% finished a modifiers is like 80+% finished lol i.e engine bay done up interior, sound system, exterior of the car.

so dont put yourself in the realm of the boyracers or you will naturally get put into it by the surrounding public you got to make them aware your a proper modifier and take your sh*t serious .

I know members on here will disagree (and its there human right to say so if they do disagree) but im not a sheep i dont follow the heard if your a true modifier the idea is to be an individual and stand way out from the rest!

sorry for the book there hahaha

  14. #14
Not to my taste either, love the skirts and the 1.6VTR sticker as well
  15. #15
lol yea got tht sticker custom made for about £3 lol!!

oh yea btw for the ppl how wanted to see prgrs thread well i have a few pics under my sig pic but it for facebook
  16. #16
Smooth it in and change mesh to black and it will look so much smarter mate
  17. #17
if its too your taste fair play each to their own you may as well smooth it in so it looks more natural and if you have engine plans you should cut through to make it functioning otherwise whats the point of it being there
    ?
  18. #18
the point of it being there is cos i like the look... I wanna smooth it in but i smoothed so much in and i no how annoying it gets spesh on the bonnet it will get quite hard to get the right curve round the scoop

oh yea made a progress thread now

why do i need to edit i like it. always like the look of scoops on cars.
  21. #21
Think he meant so you dont double post, you just edit your original post
  22. #22
    i didnt dbl post tbh...
  23. #23
....a bonnet scoop that is just stuck on.......I dont know what to say, nice bit of drag for you there.....atleast cut through so the engine is getting cooler....I really cant see the point though. I have been considering making one for my car as Jap turbo engines run really hot but its probably not needed.....
  24. #24
looks like a glanza turbo scoop. not keen to be honest but at least it's not too lairy

won't really serve a purpose even if you do cut through so i don't see the point. needs smoothing in though. can't see it noticeably affecting performance but those dtms should cancel it out anyway lol

i generally like my cars to be subtlely modified all round. a few tweaks to the outside but inkeeping with the lines of the car. interior standard bar functional mods ie black leather seats, rev counter etc. o/e ftw! but then again i wouldn't consider myself a boy racer or a modifier... more an enthusiast
  25. #25
Not really my sort of thing, unless your fitting a turbo to it too

First time i've seen a saxo with a nasal strip tho...

  26. #26
lmao !!! hmmmm duno whats to come to the engine all i no is i like the look of scoops

LOOL NASAL STRIP, QUITE GOOD TO BE HONEST!
  28. #28
Looks ok, maybe should have positioned it more towards the passenger side so that it would be directly over the airbox, aiding airflow to any open cone filter you might have

    Will it be colour coded?
  29. #29
i thought if i did that it would a bit crap tho tbh plus i have a forced enclosed induction with air flow coming though the bonnet grill. i havnt cut though it yet but i will some time soon and ive decided not to smooth it in either
