taking mk1 headlights apart...

   want to take mine apart as they are abit green inside and want to give them a good clean and sort them out

   isnt it the same as the mark 2.. heat them up and pull the glass off

   i was hoping it wudnt be as i really dont even want to try that lol, there are some metal clips round the glass but i didnt no if they held them in place,
   
   dont fancy trying to heat them up

   its not hard. just use a hair dryer it the glue melts in no time and then you can prise them apart. and while your there smoke them too

   how do you put them back on tho?? and i didnt realise you could just use a hair dryer lol is there a guide on how to smoke them? and what do you need, jst black spray paint??

   you can just heat the glue back up put the glass back on then it'll set and seal it. Smokeing is easiy.. just sand the inserts down.. plastic primer then paint them black.
   
   if stuff is getting in your headlights then it might be an idea to use some sealent too to make sure its all sealed up.

   i tried using a hair dryer but my glue had well had it so i bunged them in oven for 10mins and the glue jus crumbled so i had to reseal them with tigerseal. jus a warning if ur glue is crap like mine

   Nothing wrong with it. I didnt make a mess at all when I done mine. Stick them in the oven with lots of foil and your'll be fine!

   Ok cheers guys! think i may give this a shot, got some other mk1 headlights so myt experiemtn on them first!!!
   
   where abouts do i smoke tho cos it all looks like reflective stuff and i dont want them being less reflective just for the look of having them smoked?

    you need to keep the reflective bit at the back (it has goves and stuff on it to reflect more) but you can paint the rest.
