just wondering how much u rekon it would cost for supply and fitting of a VTS engine into a 1.1 and also if this is possible.

i am debating whether or not this will be worth it or whether to get a new car

    cheers

hmm i dont plan on doing this for a good 12 months due to insurance as still 17 and was therefore going to spend a lot of money on my 1.1 making it look good interior and exterior

just wanted to now rough price for engine change as not sure whether 2 put all my money into the 1.1 or not

i didnt thik about searching first (not sure why as i usually search for everything )
after reading all other threads on this matter i am now seriously considering waiting till my insurance drops (in september) which will give me time to save up over the summer when i am working full time , and buy myself a VTS then.

As for my 1.1 no more, expensive, modifications will be getting done.

Makes sense tbh. Its never as simple as just changing the engine over. Though you will still have fun trying to find insurance at the age of 18 (guessing thats how old you will be then). Will be loads, mine still is and im 20 with 3 years ncb. Lol.

just buy an s, ive been trying to convert me vtr for nearly 3 weeks now and have had nothing but trouble and i havnt even had the engine out of my car.

people talk about the conversion as if its a piece of piss. it really isnt and il be honest i underestimated it.

ive had soo much trouble trying to find the right loom for plug and play and have established that there just isnt one so will have to cut some wires whihc is a bad thing.

its up to yourself mate, but i would honestly in hindsight buy an S

not only the above, vts's are becoming quite cheap to buy now.

yea i will be 18 when i look to get one. i just hope i get lucky with the insurance as i cannot take much longer with a 1.1 engine and i cant b bothered just going to a 1.4, may aswell get the best haha. i will just hav to work my a*se off to pay it.

    It'll be worth it mate

btw i love the idea of "dropping" a VTS engine in a flat arched saxo ( if only it was that simple ) and creating a super "sleeper"

haha would be great if it was that simple. Shame i've got to wait till september though to get a VTS. I'd get it now just cant afford it so will have to save up over the summer. I look forward going to get one though

look in the website links section,

theres a vts for £950, 27k, needs a little work but the two jobs mentioned are piece of piss

insurance will be stupidly high at 18, i got a yrs no claims and im 18 and some companies wont even both keep your 1.1 for a couple of years then get a s be alot better off and then ur have money to use it rather than just look at it lol

Have you thought about how the braking/handling would be effected by just
    dropping a 16v lump into a poverty spec 106 ?

    i lol'd

If your car is standard then Buy a VTS.

If your car is beyond "swappables" - as is my 106, then yes do a conversion.
