engine wont start

hi, ive just done an engine change, and i cant get the new engine started, i cant think why either, ive got fuel going to the cylinders, cos when i take the plugs out you can smell it, got good compression on all cylinders with pretty much no difference in pressure between them, and spark coming off all the plugs, but it wont even attempt to fire, the timing if fine, ive checked and re checked i have spent all day trying to figure out what it can be. any thoughts anyone

righty ermm both earths fitted (one to the gearbox one to the inner wing ) fuel cut off switch , crank sensor , will it turn over ?
  5. #5
yeah turns over fine, and there is a spark at the plugs, thought it was fuel as thats all i could think of but when i took a plug out it was damp inside and smelt of petrol, all earth straps are on.....

did you put a new belt on it while the motor was out ?
and sorry but my beds calling laters dude....

no same belt and i heard the engine running from the donar car, so i know its fine, im going to have another go at it monday, as ive noticed that i havent got a connector on one of the sensors. think its a cooling one at the back of the engine where there are 3 on the back of the water collector thingy,

Nothing to do with the imobliser is it? Is it getting any air?
  9. #9
crank sensor or immobiliser i'm thinking
  10. #10
have u had th immolbiliser unlocked?
  11. #11
sounds like immobiliser if you heard the engine running. as said have you had it unlocked?
  12. #12
    the ecu that is
  13. #13
If you`re getting a spark it won`t be the crank sensor.

Thanks for all your posts. But it cant be the crank sensor because its got a spark at the plugs. And the immobiliser cuts off the spark or the fuel. Normally the spark. Im hoping i just flooded it trying. Got another day off tomorrow so going to check and have a good tinker
