Saxo with 306 GTI-6 engine...

    Hy everyone!

I'm sorry to post this out of nowhere, but I really need help in something... And there's no one better than you to ask

I own a saxo vts (in portugal it's called saxo CUP) of the year 2001, it's an enterprise (I also know that we are the only country that has a 2 seat saxo with this engine), and I have a deal of this peugeot 306 engine (167hp, 2.0 cc, 6 gears) but before I buy it I have a few questions..

    - Does it fit in there?? I know that you need to cut some parts of the front of the car, in the space where you put the engine (I don't know the name of it in english, sorry...).

    - Do you think it's reliable? I will put the engine, the gearbox and all the electric part.

    - My car is prepared to drag races, do you think it would be much better carrying this 2.0 engine?

    - Is there any saxo with this engine? Can it be done?

    Thank you for the attention

P.s - This is the presentation of the car that I made when I registered myself here:

yes it can be done mate, there are a couple of companies in the uk that do it. pug1off and pugperformance, maybe emailing them would be a good idea. i though this before but is alot of money and the engine is very heavy. also turning circle is poor but if it only for drags will be going straight really.

my personaly preference would be a "modded" VTS engine. Mainly as the gti6 lump is prone to cam belt issues, its VERY heavy, the turning circle is gash, as has been said.

    Although a gti6 on TB's sounds awesome, and a SC'd gti6 goes like shit off a shovel!

Oh and there also a git too work on lol

So... your advice is to invest in the engine I have now, and not trading it for the 2.0, right??

One of my doubts was exactly the weight... althow there are 167hp pulling the saxo, is it better? it can be easily put with 200hp..

200 is relativly easy to get with the gti6, In my opinion its more cost effective to invest in the engine you have now.

But if you want to be a bit different go for GTI6, but be aware the VTS is more reliable and easier to work on.

You're right... it would cost a lot, really a lot of money to put my engine with the same 200hp... Here in portugal things are a bit expensive.. for example, a trottle body, itb's or however you call it, costs here a minimum os 2500 euros, in a country where the medium salary is 700 euros... and before putting the trottle body you already gotta have a big investment in the engine..

Here, it compensates each day more, trading engines...

Of course that the turbo kit would also be another great option...
