I know what ur gna think ... "Another harness/ bucket seat thread" - I extend many apologies. Just a Quick question and i will be outa your hair. I am geting reclining buckets. I want to retain my back seats (for now - gonna think about a false floor to encorperate spare wheel etc). After hearing about the merits of harnesses and seats combined, and the fact that saxos are made of tissue paper and glue, i want to have harnesses. Now heres the stumbling block. I have 3 point harnesses coming with the seats and dont fancy shelling out more money on unclipable harnesses when the likelihood is i will be having 1/2 passengers max in my car, and i dont particularily care about their comfort (they should get their own sodding car). Can i fix 3 point harneses and still use the back seats (preferably without throttling a mate in the process) I dont care about the difficulty geting in the car for them, just dont want them to be unsafe etc. Cheers guys

#3yeah ive had 5 people in my car me and 4 other adults and i have 3 point harnesses with recliners......they can just sit round the harness that goes into where the rear seat buckle is....

this is the only way i would run harnesses if you were doing it like that, i would not be comfy putting a rear bench in and carrying passengers :| -
#7hmm i value your opinion and to be honest i am 50/50 - just as i have never had harnesses before so i dont know what protocol is etc. Does it make much difference when you strip the back seats out?? also - how much do the sabelt harnesses retail for? had a wuick look but i just seem to get really poorly constructed sites coming up with no prices.
-
#8got my sabelt's for bout 130 ish from tweeks, but got some discount.
removing the rear bench will make it a bit lighter, but if you carry passengers now, then you will probably want to in the future...
i would be concerned about your passengers safety in an accident if you were running harnesses - chances are there wouldnt be much left of them if they were sat in the middle of the harnesses -
#10i also have the problem of never having fitted 3 point harnesses (and have just bought fixed buckets with sliding subframes n harnesses, i want to retain the rear seats but duno how to do it??????????? rep for all who can help...pics wud be good

#11i must say my first thought was that they would act as some sort of deadly device in a hard ish accident. The only reason i have backseats is that i live in a house with 5 other lads and we only have one other car between us (and he is a dick and wont do a favour for anyone) so i end up driving to asda etc. BUT thats all gonna change. I am gonna make a boot build/false floor over summer and then decide.
Also, aint it a bit of a faf taking the sabelt harnesses out if u just wana quickly run a few mates down for a kick about? -
#12put the harnesses to the center of the rear bench, where the clip part of the belt is, and the people can sit either side of the harnesses

#13okies cool. I had heard that idea before but didnt take in what was said that much and thus thought i understood it wrong. I am gna wait till i get my seats i recon then see how it all lays out. I need to source some Corbeau subs first before any of this really matters - so it would be a long wait. Cheers for your speedy and helpful replies guys
