Engine tappy

   Ive taken my VTS into my local garage for a tappy noise thats started in the last week or so. I had suspicions that it was the lifters.. Turns out i was right but to my disbelief was told it will cost £300-£400 to be fixed.. Are they trying to rip me off or is this a reasonable price? Also, anyone know where i could get it done cheaper, anywhere around East anglia?

   i have the same prob m8 all that tappin
   citroen do them for 16+vat each

   anyone fitted these? are they easy enough to do?
   
   i have a funny feeling mine may have gone as it knocks like hell wen cold but runs fine when warm

   Chances are its only one lifter but theyre a bugger to track down each one.
   
   Probably easier to buy a set 2nd hand than go out and spend a fortune buying new.

   i had the same problem an it turned out that i had hardly any oil left in my engine an that the lifters were runnin dry
