help with oil problem

  1. #1
hi ive had my saxo 2 months now.. a couple of weeks after getting it, i had to put oil in..

i didnt think this was a problem.. until today, my oil light has come back on

is this bad? in my old car which i had for a year i didnt put new oil in once

what is the problem? and will it cost a lot to fix?

    Is it leaking anywhere?

When you open the filler cap, do you see any mayo looking stuff?

If the oil light comes on, STOP the car. Do not drive it with the oil light on!

first I'd check the oil levels with the dip stick..

I know someone who stuck in a couple of litres of oil only to find it was the oil light that was faulty

after that its worth looking at the engine to see if there is an obvious place for oil to be coming out (clean the engine bay if necessary)

If nothing leaks out there then its burning the oil possibly.. compression check would be a good place to start

    cheers..

no its not leaking anywhere.. just dont think it should be going through oil this quickly.

i think it may be the light. my car doesnt run badly or anything.

ok cheers mate.. ill give that a check

im guessing it could just be lose and let a little oil out. so needs a tighten right?

its only a tiny leak from what i can see.. but obv would rather have it fixed

if you got a lot o miles on motor could be valve stem oil seals
