water system pressurised

    hey guys and girls,
got another problem, ive managed to finally get my vts running after realising what the problem with it was, the woodruff key in the crank had sheered off so the the timing did what ever it wanted!
fixed it now but my water?cooling system is pressrised to hell, im sure its not meant to be like that?????????? after a minute or so running if you undo the water cap the water splurts out everywhere!!!!!
anyone got any ideas? could it be head gasket? ive not run it up to running temoperature cos its a recon head so i dont want to warp it if the cooling side is dead
any help or thoughts would be a great help
    cheers

coolant system is always under pressure when the engines warmed, thats why the caps there. Its only a problem if its blasting out the cap all the time, or is under a load of pressure within a minute or so of running.

Question i was going to ask answered above lol

it looks pretty well pressurised to me to be honest, within a few minutes of running if you undo the lid most of the water gets spewed out of the top???? but i havent had it running up to temperature tho but surely thats not right?

Daft question, do you open the cap slowly or just sling it open? you have to let the bottle de preasurerise a little first...

Surely if the engines cold the stat is not open so the system should not be pressurised?

After the engine has been running, it will spurt water everywhere..

Try opening the cap first thing in the morning and see what its like then, you may here a slight hiss for like a split second as you open it but no water should come out..

its getting far to pressurised, just run it to temp and all the pipes are rock solid, you can undo it as slow as you can and it hissis like a madun and then water weeeeeeeeeee,s out, head off again dam it

sounds like it is then if u let it off slow. is the rad in tackt?

would you guys always use new head bolts or can you get away with using the old ones?

I'd try bleeding the system before taking the head off!

Yea make the head the last resort tbh mate! there might just be a clog or something somewere!
