106 rallye phase 1 engine in vtr

   my engine is on its way out and im thinking of putting my old 106rallye engine into my vtr. Anybody done this before and did you face any problems?
   the rallye engine is more powerful than a standard phase 1 vtr which is tempting as the basis for a new project

   but they are about the same power as the phase3 vtr engine? wouldnt that be a better engine for the project?

   i respect the point your making its just ive got the engine already mate its either going in the vtr or being sold

   do it I don't see why not, will be easier conversion both being single plug and wiring will be the only thing, only problem is you will need a 1.1 box or something VTR one will be way to long for the S1 motor.
   
   thing you will miss tho is the torque, since the s1 enigne is already out maybe worth doing some naughty things on it before it goes in?

   im planning on camming it rally cams remap and boosting the fueling alot to run the cams. Manifold, decat, supersprint ect ive got the normal rallye gearbox aswell it all came out my old rallye after i rolled it

   only thing thats making me think twice is i just cammed my vtr engine and its looking like its going to cost me a fair bit on the rallye

    Will the vtr head not fit on the rallye bottom end?
    
    Just saying that because im putting an XSI head on a vtr bottom end, so I dont see why it cant be revered.

    noooooooo i spent all day taking apart the rallye engine going to rebuild it before putting it in the car (was the plan)
    
    bent con rod, piston rings shagged, badly worn big end.
    
    Its looking in a sorry state. I think its time to call it a day to that idea??!!
    unless i can buy a cheap engine

    whats the bottom end like on your VTR? could just stick the rallye top end on that will be an animal them

    same problem with the vtr bottom end im afraid just the vtr isnt as bad

    found a new engine today being sold as a package to me with unlocked ecu gearbox full running engine £200 and the loom if i want it

    what condition, what cams? what gear box? condition of clutch? what ecu is it singe or 3? how many miles has it done?

    87k perfect working order clutch in fine gearbox is fine no scrapping into gear or anything single plug, kent cam in it done under 800 mile with it in. Only thing missing is manifold had a 4 branch but sold it seperatly
