Exhaust Question

    Hi guys,

    Can anyone recommend a good cat back exhasut system for a 1.6 vtr mk2? one that is resonably loud and not badly priced?

    Has to be an ashley system tbh!

    £150 for the full system, and when used with a decat, they are loud!

    Good performance gains too!

    I got mine from this bloke! Very helpfull and gave me free postage.

    What about one thats not loud but has a nice sound to it? Dont want my neighbours known everytime i get into my car lol

    Magnex alll the way for me, not stupid loud but you can tell its an aftermarket system. People will say they are a common choice but they are popular for a reason. I got my full system for £270.

    From what others say, magnex is nice sound when giving it some, but not too booming with just general driving etc.

    If you want something loud, maybe powerflow/scorpion? not too sure.

    Magnex's are pretty unoffensive if you want quiet. Janspeed make a nice noise but are loud in my experience

    Piper are RUBBISH. I had one on my gfs car. The hanger snapped in less than 50 miles. Proper poor build quality. And the big round backbox looks stupid.

    i have a scorpion cat back on my 2003 vtr, sounds stunnin when you put your foot down!

    when it is just idle it purrs but is not loud! i was a little disappointed with it not popping as much as my Piper did on my ax gt but i still have to get the supersprint 4-2-1 decat mani ay!

    do the manifolds make much difference with regards to noise??

    ashley i would say is great for money!

    piper i owuld say is king though along with supersprint

    magnex is just toooo subtle imo.

    im still sayin scorpion! purely for the way they fit!

    i fitted mine and it was the best fit you can get! just doesn't poke that far out of the bumper...it is abit hidden, which i suppose doenst reallt matter?

    ashly are the ones that give the raspy s1600 sound aren't they?

    If you don't want it too loud dont get a decat. Just get a system. decats are so loud, but sound soo good.

    i am gettin a supersprint 4-2-1 (decat) to fit onto a scorpion system, that should sound class!

    i like the way scorpion purr but are inoffensive!

    Got negative reputation for slating piper. How childish, i wont bother giving advice anymore on this forum if thats how you act. Ill stick to 106rallye,ssc and axownersclub.

    Ill find the pic of it later showing a fresh exhaust with a hanger snapped at the base, maybe somebody will cry?

    when i had a Piper backbox on my AX GT i had to re-weld the mounting brackets, and the olive joint never fit properly so it always had an air leak!

    piper may sound good, but their slogan will always be 'More sound for your Pound'!!!!!!!!!!!
