Anyone got a knackered engine. Need one piston

    Hey peeps. im in need but before i spend £50 on a new piston again as there seems to be two different types. I've bought a new piston but its only got the valve indentations on the inlet side and i needed the piston with the 4 indentations for each valve. I cant take it back either cos i fitted it then realised Doh! The diameter seem to be the same but i think their different weights cos it runs and the whole car shakes! Its the only thing it can be. Anyone help? Thanks in advance john

    You might also need to know its a 1.6 Vts sorry

    Ok do you know anything about them. Im after standard pistons as i dont want a re bore as its a low mileage engine and doesn't need it. You got a price in mind

    these are standard off an engine with about 60k

    you maybe in luck.

    when i stripped my old S engine i kept 1 piston (i think i have a look ima bizzle)

    Sweet. If you could i'd love you forever. You know if its standard or the mileage of the engine? And is it the piston with 4 grooves for the valves? So many questions lol

    std pistons irc shouldnt have 4 groves. unless youve had some meeting of piston to valve.

    Irc? I've got two blocks with different pistons in each block. One with 4 grooves and one with just two. The two are set on the inlet side i think?? I got told from my supplier that there was a change around 99 in the engines for the Vts's and i must have had an engine pre and post that time. Is that not true?

    if i remeber correctly is IRC.
    Have you spoken to cit/pug direct about the piston as they would have the info.

    ryan's right standard pistons only have 2 groves.

    Oh, i wonder what engine i bought then? How strange. It seems identical to the 2 groove piston engine. Head is identical as is all the crank etc

    No its defo machined out. Oh well. May just get it balanced. Just hoped someone may have a spare one kicking about somewhere. Cheers for everyones input tho
