New dials

  1. #1
Just got some new dials with different colour LED's
the instructions say disconnect the battery first, would it matter too much if i dont?
also, is it only the -ve that has to be disconnected?
    thanks

what could happen if i dont undo battery? anything serious?
my dads on holiday till monday and he took the tool box with him so i dont have anything capable of removing the bolt

not sure ive never done the dials before - but i probably wont risk it if it was me cos it says it for a reason. Dont you have anything that relates to like a 13mm spanner or something?

ive alway been told pos first

tbh mate you dont have to. i normally dont. its ur safety though so ur choice. if you do decide to it doesn't matter which one you remove first. i think its the positive that just unclips so take that one off.

Yea the +ve clips so if i just unclip that one, and leave the -ve connected would the airbag pop out if i took the steering wheel off?

no cause there'll be no current passing through the system. people (and manuals) do say leave the airbag for 10 mins to let any charge dissipate but i did it straight away with no probs. what can i say, i live life on the edge lol

i cant get the bastard steering wheel off, the toll im using with the torx on the end barley fits in the hole

what u using exactly? i used a ratchet with an extension and then a T50 bit

this is what im using, but its only short so obviously its hard to turn. The one i previously used had an extension bit with a handle but my dad took it on holiday with him.
As it happens, its not long enough to go into the back of the wheel and for me to get my hand around it.

seriously mate i cant do it
as stated above i cant get the wheel off
also im worried about the airbag. The -ve needs the bolt to be undone whereas the pos is just a clip
i cant get my dam horn worked out either. I've been told to take the wheel arch bit off by just pulling it but im sure mines bolted.
im just gonna wait for the gagrage to sort the horn when it gets serviced
as for the dials i got no idea what to do

i use a screwdriver type torx bit set

battery should be ok from positive just as long as you didnt start on it for about ten minutes after disconnectiong the battery

yea thats what i normally use, but as i said its gone for the weekend
when i read the instructions i was pretty annoyed cos i didnt know i had to drill things and cut things!
from just reading them i got really lost, but i'll try reading them again while actually trying to do it and if that doesnt work im gonna need help mate
    2 BJ's it is

i was actually expecting the whole new dial set thing, but its just stickers almost
comes with a switch to change colour and brightness
