VTS lambda Q

  1. #1
Have a 2001 (Yreg) VTS with full magnex system with de-cat.
Now my understanding is that they have 2 lambda sensors, one before and one after the cat.......
I think the one after the cat is causing issues with the car and keeps chucking up fuel trim error codes......due to the de-cat

Can i remove this second lambda sensor and just run with the one before the 'de-cat'.....

    Hope that makes sense

As I understand it, the Lambda sensor before the cat is used to sense the fuel-air mixture and send a signal to the ECU which the ECU uses to trim the fuel. The sensor after the cat is used to know whether the cat is functioning correctly. If you've removed the cat, then the 2nd sensor is not going to get the right gas to sense and will be out-of-tolerence and throw the error code.

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer since we've not played with a 3-plug twin sensor Saxo properly yet, but I'm sure someone will be along soon!

    Regards

yeh theres plugs u can get to plug the lambda sensor up

nt sure about the probs it gna cause wif ecu n that tho prob best gettin hold of cituning or sumfin?

you put the second sensor into a sleeve (from GMC), which fools the ecu into thinking the exhaust gasses after the cat are cleaner than before the cat (makes the ecu think the cat is still there)

Does the sleeve screw into the exhaust where the lambda goes or is a seperate bung needed??

Sorry for the q's but not really sure on this one, only ever had cars with one lambda!!

you screw the lamba sensor into the sleeve, you then tie the sleeve up out of the way of the exhaust, and bingo.

Cheers fella, you know what size banjo bolt i would need for the hole in the exhaust by any chance...

Not sure mate, might be worth pm'ing KamRacing as they supply the supersprint exhaust which requires a bolt screwed into the exhaust iirc, they might be able to tell you the size.

the lamda plugs for the supersprint are M18 x 1.5. Just about to put one on the site so people can buy them as some have lost them from working loose

Cheers mate, any chance of a quick link on here when you have them on the site??
