Mk 1 Grill

  1. #1
I think this is the right place.
I have searched for the answer to this, but have found nothing, I want a meshed grill, but as you can see from the picture below, iv got a solid grill as standard. (ignoring the good old L plates that i don't need anymore )

There is no section to take out to be able to mesh. So what are my options?
Theres this iv seen on ebay:

my question about that is, is it just a straight fit?

    OR

Do i look to get a grill off ebay that does have a removable centre section so i can mesh it myself.
    My budget will cover either

    any helps is appreciated

    should i look to buy

not worth paying the £60 theyre asking on ebay

    mesh costs about £15 - £20

easier to do it youself.. theres a guide around

As you have the older mk1 grill, i think the only way you can change it is by actually cutting the slats out and spraying it again. But if you get the newer mk1 grill like the one your looking at on ebay, it should be a straight fit and can be very easily meshed.

Wouldn't personally buy the one off ebay though, bit pricey. Either get one of here, or go to a scrappy and find one then spray it up.

yeah scrappy would be best imo.. paint wont cost much.. and mesh is cheap

would still prbly work out cheaper to go get a newer style grille from a scrappy. then just mesh that grille

    cheers guys,
iv been browsing ebay and found this

My cars currently no driveable as im spraying the centre console, but im expecting it to be back in tomorrow and then ill go to the 2 scrappies round here.

Im really not up for paying £60+ for a grill that i then got to spend more money spraying.
