did he get fined or points or anything?
  17. #17
no just a warning to take it off and put it on the front (but theres no point in doing that becuase of the work smoothing off the front making it look euro so an ugly number plate will just ruin it)
  18. #18
yea made the brackets myself and connected them to the bottom of the bumper.

    pretty simple really.

    and thanks
  19. #19
    erm on ya boot lid
  20. #20
lol sort of ruins the idea of having a smoothed boot
  21. #21
ahhhh buthe didnt say he had it smoothed
  22. #22
it is NOT legal to have your plates in your window!

i dont know why anyone thinks its legal.

do you really think more people wouldnt have them in their window if it was legal?

most people who are into cars dont want number plates on their bumpers!

especially euro/dub cars as it spoils the smooth lines of the car, yet they all still have them as its the law!
  23. #23
ole matey with the smoothed boot:

yours doesnt have any lighting, isnt that illegal? as it has to be lit up?
  24. #24
What about getting a 106 recess smoothed into the rear bumper??

police have different views in every area mate.
  26. #26
    get recess done like this looks lush" border="0" class="tcattdimglink" onload="NcodeImageResizer.createOn(this);" alt="" />
  27. #27
The number plate has to be lit up at night as well, so carful where you put it as you'll need to fit lights

You can get stick on bolts with lights in them from Deamon Tweeks and other tuning shops though
  28. #28
    106 recess looks odd imo
  29. #29
This is where i have mine and just use screw in led bolts

it doesnt matter what their views are. the fact is its illegal and there's only one law for the whole country.

some may just tell you to put it back on but some may give you a fine.

    still not legal though.
  31. #31
even though it is the law and i agree it is illegal, at the end of the day its still under the police officers discretion on what he/she wants to do.
  32. #32
as i havent got number plate lights atm i just dont drive at night, gwent police have been informed of the situation, and there fine with it unless of course im court at night.
  33. #33
right i think im just gonna buy a 106 bumper any suggestion which one im guessing gti or quicksilver
  34. #34
get 106 front too! would look the nuts!

wow chill winstan!! just saying its what the police say goes up this neck of the woods and in most others
  36. #36
    Thread Hijack!
  37. #37
its not a hi-jack, cos the comments directly relate to the topic of this thread, which is where to move the plates to, people are just reminding him its illegal to have them in the windows.

Doesnt matter what "neck of the woods" you are from, its illegal, if you get a nice copper(normal plod) they might just give u a warning or let you off, if you get a not so nice copper(traffic cop) then you could be looking at a fine, anything up to 60quid. I know cos my lot get them regularly!
Also if you get fined, the incident is logged down on the police database and if repeteadly caught for the same offence can lead to points.

    So beware mate
  38. #38
    nice one
  39. #39
I don'y think smoothed boot lids suit Saxo's IMHO.
  40. #40
i think they look really suit saxos with vt kits, standard boot isnt very pretty imo - only reason why im not getting 1 is that some insurance companys dont allow it becuase it is 'altering the body shape', even though they dont mind bodykits/spoiler, i dont get it? (so they dont mind full on jap body kit and spoiler but no smoothed boots???)
