Drilling holes in rear window????

  1. #1
    Hi guys.

I have a MK2 spoiler i want to fit to my MK1. The only problem I have is that the MK2 spoiler requires holes in the rear window.
Has anyone done this, or know of anywhere to get it done? Or someone who has done it that wants to help me do it for beer tokens?

Think you may have to buy new screen mate

suppose if you didnt use a battry drill, and did it verry slowly, and maybe heated the glass you could drill it, most people just buy a new boot though

I wouldn't like to drill glass... other than get a new rear screen, could maybe bond it on with something VERY strong... tiger seal?

i was hoping for a cheaper option. i just dont trust myself not to smash my screen

    how strong is tiger seal?

Very strong! I used it to stick my mk2 spoiler on my mk1 screen. Just let it set for a day, and it will be fine. Certainly the cheaper option rather than replacing the whole screen.

When i shattered my rear screen, it took me ages to get the spoiler of because the stuff was so strong! lol.

Also, think you might be able to get it from DIY shops, worth a look.

TBH NeV, the car is getting to look like the photoshop you did for us mate. I will have pics up on sunday (or monday) as i dont wanna leak all the changes before the coastal run. Have you seen my progress thread?

Im doing the same thing, i went for Skiaflex as that is meant to be better for glass bonding.

Not fitted it yet, will do in a few weeks though when i get a nice day im not needing to drive.

i did it today - left the tape on for about 5 hours whilst i was running about doing other little things about the house.
    seams well stuck on.
