having power issues at around 2000rpm

I’ve had a new engine fitted to my mk1 saxo VTR which is a grey top from a mk2 VTR, it seems a good engine and had only done 37k. when i did the engine swap i used the old gearbox and had a new clutch, timing belt, manifold and exhaust system.
the manifold and exhaust is all supersprint.

ok now onto the problem, when im driving my saxo at about 2000rpm in any gear and put my foot down all the power is gone, its like im driving a 1 litre engine and then when i reach about 2300rpm it kicks into action and off i go.
also sometimes when i stop at a junction the rpm will go wild between 1000-400rpm almost on the verge of stalling.
and another thing is when i let my foot off the accelerator i get a popping sound but the engine doesn’t slow the car down, but in some cases the engine will not make the popping sound and then you can feel the car slow down under deceleration.

i thought that the manifold may need tightening as it might be letting in some air and screwing up the exhaust gas outlet.
or the ECU needs calibration, I’m not sure.

Sorry for the long post but i thought it best to get all the info up

ok first off the idle problem is the idle control vavle, clean or re-new it.
the popping sounds like normal if you de-catted,its just hydrocarbons being burnt in the zorst.
as for slowness, you got to remember its a vtr,my advice is do a good service on it,oil, filter plugs etc and see how that goes.

i'll have a look at the control valve.
it’s had new gear and engine oil and its not slow because its a VTR there’s a noticeable slowness and then a sudden jump in power, which isn’t progressive, its very sudden

    eeerrr,you must have a 2 stroke with a power band,or tuboed lol,

nah defo have a look at the valve and have you changed the plugs?air filter etc.what about fuel filter?

have a look at these things bud.

most of the parts from my old engine were moved over but fuel filter was changed but not the plugs, but they have been cleaned.
i may have to plug it into a diagnostic to see if that comes up with any answers.
