Cleaning the Engine Bay

  1. #1
    Gonna do this on Wednesday as I've not got any other plans..

    I've been looking up on here and also on other Sites how to do it, so far I've gathered, I need this;

    http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...tegoryId_31475

    A Brush, which I have.. and some Trim Cleaner for the plastics, which I have.. And also a hose, as apposed to a Pressure Washer, which I also have..

    Is there anything else I need?

    And also, I've gotta 1.1i, no modifications to the engine at all -boring- what will I be looking to cover up with Cling Film/Foil? Battery? Alternator? What else?

    Cheers

    Just cover all electrical conectors, plugs, fuses etc and anywhere which could cause water to get in your engine, think thats about it really

    tbh i dont cover things up on mine... i use liquid degreaser i.e. gunk, an old clean paint brush a bucket of clean soapy water an old sponge a hose pipe a clean cloth and cockpit shine.

    Using the brush, apply the degreaser. Start at one side and work your way across taking attention to detail. Once your happy you've applied degreaser to everything, sponge over with the clean soapy water and old sponge then use the hose on fine spray to rinse over. once the degreaser is off, use the dry cloth to wipe over the engine. i find runnign the engine for a few mins helps it dry. then finishing touch is spraying it all over with cockpit shine. This is the technique i use on mine and my dads car and works a treat tbh...Works a treat for me...will find pics for you

    One thing i will add, Try not to get engine too wet though otherwise it'll run bit crappy for a bit!
