Anyone ever used a thinner oil to the standard spec oil
When cold 1st and 2nd gear are pretty hard to get in and are a bit clunky when warm

It is not something you would normally do on a road car. 1 st to 2 nd are always a bit odd on these cars. IF you really think something is wrong your best to have the problem fixed and not try and work round it as it could end up doing some real damage.

I wouldn't change to a thinner oil as a fix.
You could put in some fresh stuff and see if that makes a difference. If that doesn't you need to get the clutch / linkages / gearbox engine mount etc checked out.

Common problem with saxo linkages I'd investigate that further and leave the standard spec oil in!

When I replaced my driveshafts, I put new gearbox oil in, standard stuff though, and i'm finding it hates going into first gear and I get a rattling sound if its in 2nd gear with a cold engine??
